It all begins with a vision.

Hello there!

My name is Maggie. Shortly after I was born in a rural village in China, I was abandoned in a basket and discovered by an orphanage worker. My life could have followed a very different path if it weren't for the opportunities I achieved through education – most girls with similar origins don't get the chance to grow up and pursue their dreams. It is something I often think about and do not take for granted.

I founded Thinking Huts in 2015 after becoming fascinated with the potential of technology to create humanitarian-driven solutions. My greatest hope was to find a solution that increases global access to education, because it is at the root of empowering people to lift themselves out of poverty.

Overcoming any obstacle that comes our way and persevering through a global pandemic, Thinking Huts has proven that 3D printing is poised to tackle SDGs 4 and 9 — Quality Education and Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure.

Solving problems takes more than technology alone, and working closely with communities has always been central to my vision, as has employing and training local artisans to stimulate economies and spread innovation. With the help of supporters like you who share our vision for a brighter future, we are pioneering a scalable solution that reaches beyond cultures and geographies.

Thinking Huts combines technology with humanitarian-driven goals to support quality education. Together, we can fill the need for schools more quickly and adapt our designs based on local feedback as we continue to grow. Education is the universal solvent that has the power to prevent health epidemics, lift economies, tackle environmental issues, and empower communities in every corner of the world.

Change starts with us.

Sincerely,

Maggie Grout
